In southwest Portland, city plans a centennial party for Terwilliger Parkway

The parkway was part of the grand vision for Portland put together by landscape architect John C. Olmsted. With his stepbrother, Frederick Law Olmsted Jr., John Olmsted believed that cities needed boulevards and parkways to give movement 'a feeling of civility.'
